OPPOSITE DAY

Updated: Feb 10

Opposite Day is our February 2022 theme!

Up is Down. Right is Left. Cold is Hot. That’s right, we’re celebrating opposite day this whole month (or should we say, not celebrating? This could get confusing!) This series will give kids a chance to talk about the counter-culture things Jesus said. It sounds impossible to believe that struggles bring us closer to Jesus or that our enemies can teach us about love. However, these beautiful opposites remind us that a God we can’t see is always with us and that it’s better to follow Jesus than our own instincts. Happy Opposite Day!

What we're learning each week both online AND in-person

WEEK 1: Jesus called the disciples. This week we're going to be learning about how and why Jesus called the disciples. Our BIG IDEA of the week is Following Jesus is the opposite of following ourselves; Luke 5:1-11.

WEEK 2: What Jesus had to say about blessings and struggles. The BIG IDEA of our 2nd week is Our struggles bring us closer to Jesus; Matthew 5:1-12.

WEEK 3: Jesus wants us to love our enemies. The BIG IDEA of our 3rd week is our enemies help us learn to love; Luke 6:27-38

WEEK 4: Our kids will learn who Jesus is through the transfiguration. The BIG IDEA of our final week of opposite day is Jesus is with us even though we can't see him; Luke 9:28-36

OUR MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH IS:

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

And if you want to challenge yourself here's the rest of the verse:

"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
